The clock never stops, the hands keep rushing at their pace, and we need to keep up with them. Not every day brings in excitement and showers of joy, some days we stumble upon disappointments. But, to stay gloomy and embrace melancholy, or just shatter them with our smile, is all that comes from within. In simple words, we are sad when we choose to be.
So, here we bring to you several reasons to make today count and celebrate each day. The Today column brings to you the reasons to celebrate each day!
World Maritime Day
The world has been under one of the most challenging times ever. With a medical emergency all across the globe, all industries are striving to meet their end. Keeping the boat afloat in these testing times has been the primary focus of many. Yet, the marine industry has been working relentlessly through days and nights to ship necessary medical equipment across borders. The shipping through the sea has been on an all-time high during this pandemic. These officers have come forward to help the nations, not flinching away from their duties.
The day signifies the importance of these warriors and our need to recognize these men at work. The global connectivity in terms of trade has been possible only due to the seafarers, who have been working through all times. The UN has decided this year’s theme as ‘Sustainable shipping for a sustainable planet’, accommodating the UN’s sustainable development goals.
We can celebrate this day by contributing to agencies who work for the welfare of these people and spread the word all around through our social media handles. Also, if you know a seafarer personally, make sure to make their day special!
Remember Me Thursday
The world is a hub to all living species. From humans to the animals and the birds, all of us owe to the planet. Everything that we enjoy should be shared with our counterparts. This day signifies the need for our human species to make a home for all the animals and other species who are up, looking for a parent and a friend to own them.
Remember me Thursday, as the name goes just urges all of us to realize that we are not the only inhabitants of the planet and we are required to make a planet inclusive for all.
Take this day as an opportunity to adopt pets if you can afford and take care of them. Vene if you are not able to pet one, lend your hand to help the agencies who work for and facilitate pet adoption. Encourage others to lend a helping hand, and make a better ecosystem to exist in.
