Everyday may not be good, but there is always something good every day! Therefore, we should celebrate each day.

We at BragSocial, through the column of today, impart to you what each day brings for you and your loved ones! Let us read what today is remarked for!

International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste

Reducing the loss of food and its wastage should be one of the major priorities of any country.  On one hand,

where the number of people dying and living in hunger has been increasing since the year 2014, on the other hand the wastage of food and over production has also been increased simultaneously. Food loss and wastage also put unnecessary pressure on the natural resource base and on the environment, depleting the natural resource base and generating greenhouse gases.

This is why we recognize 29th September as an International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste to spread and make people aware of the importance of food, make them realize the reality, and take an action towards stopping it!

It is an alarm for all of us to take an action towards it and have a measure of the quantity of food that is produced, consumed, and wasted before it is late.

Not only food is wasted, but the amount of light, energy, water, and other resources required to harvest and make it edible gets in vain along.

How to make this change?

Introduction of new technologies, some good processing systems and new ideas, new ways of working, and good practices to manage food quality and reduce food loss and waste are all we need is the basic step to have a full stop on this.

Adding to it, not only globally but actions should be taken locally to have a great implementation and a sincere effect.

From the food producers to food supply chain stakeholders, to food industries, retailers, and consumers, it is the responsibility of each one of us to save food and utilize it in a sustained manner for the present as well as future consumptions.

There is no room for food loss and waste in this time of crisis! The COVID-19 pandemic is a wake-up call to rethink the way in which we produce, handle, and waste our food! Be a food saver not only for you but for your people, country, and the planet too!

World Heart Day

Every year takes away around 17.1 million people suffering from heart diseases. The basic reasons why a person gets prone to heart problems are Overeating, lack of exercise, unhealthy diets, and high blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels. As a way to fight this, the World Heart Federation created World Heart Day. It is an event held every year on September 29. The day was first established in the year 2000 by the World Heart Federation.

Importance

The importance of this day is to encourage people to change their lifestyles and spread awareness about how you can be good to your heart. And the aim to renown this day for a heart cause is to raise awareness and make people aware of how they can fight and escape a heart disease. This lesson is becoming increasingly relevant as reports of obesity, poor diet and physical inactivity in children and young people become more and more common.

How to celebrate?

  • The first very important thing is to spend time for yourself and search about heart conditions and its risk factors.
  • There are many governmental, non-governmental organizations that organize various events such as public talks, fitness sessions, exhibitions, and marathons.
  • The very best thing you can do is to take care of yourself, take a vow to keep yourself healthy, and stay away from unhealthy food. This will include quitting alcohol, stopping smoking, and getting involved in physical exercises.
  • Take regular checks on your cholesterol, blood pressure, and heart.

‘The clock is ticking. Are you becoming the person you want to be?’

                                                                   — Greg Plitt

Everyone has their own dreams and goals in their lives. But what matters is how often we work towards them. Are we taking a shortcut to achieve it or are we really working hard? What you need to do is just ask questions to yourself, see where you stand, and then work accordingly. The sooner you will take a step towards your aim, the sooner you will achieve it!
