Every day comes with a new horizon and scope, along with a new blooming faith. Life is a struggle, and everyone is dealing with their unique problems in their way. So the least we can do is be kind and humble towards people around us. Every day brings different opportunities to us with the hope that everything will be better with the coming day. Let us read about the significant days that are observed today on November 3.
National Homemakers’ Day
Homemakers are those who are responsible for keeping the households running with ease. They contribute to household chores with time rather than money. Their homemaking skills and effectiveness often go unnoticed. Just because they are not contributing financially to a household, they are not valued.
A study by the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis found that if household work gets included in GDP estimation, it would have added $3.8 trillion to the U.S. economy in 2010, which is nearly 26% higher.
So this day is celebrated to recognize these homemakers who work 24/7 rigorously every day to make our life better. So not just today but every day, appreciate the efforts made by the homemaker in your house and acknowledge her contribution. November 3 aims to create awareness about the same.
National Sandwich Day
‘Sandwich’ is a town in England meaning market town in sandy soil. Its discovery was a result of John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich town loved playing cards in 1762. He wanted to continue playing while eating. It was only possible if he had one hand free to play cards and one to eat to avoid grease on his cards so, he ordered a cook to give him meant between two toast uncooked. When people heard of it, they started asking for “the same as Sandwich” toasts.
A sandwich is a quick grab and supple meal today so let us eat a sandwich and celebrate this day. Experiment with different fillings in a sandwich and make your unique sandwich.
