1794- John Dalton’s first lecture to Manchester literary/ philosophical society
John Dalton FRS was an English chemist, physicist, and meteorologist. John Dalton was born into a Quaker family from Eaglesfield, near Cockermouth, in Cumberland, England. His father was a weaver. He acknowledged his before time learning from his father and from Quaker John Fletcher, who ran a personal school in the close-by village of Pardshaw Hall.
1815- Cornishman Sir Humphry Davy patents miner’s protection lamp
The Davy lamp is a safety lamp for use in flammable atmospheres. It was made-up in 1815 by Sir Humphry Davy. It consists of a wick lamp with the flame enclosed inside a web display. It was “approved gratitude as a Member Organization of the Boy Scouts International Conference.
