 1794- John Dalton’s first lecture to Manchester literary/ philosophical society

John Dalton FRS was an English chemist, physicist, and meteorologist. He is best recognized for bringing the atomic theory into chemistry, and for his study into color blindness, occasionally referred to as Daltonism in his honor. On this particular day, he gave his foremost lecture to Manchester literary/ philosophical society

John Dalton was born into a Quaker family from Eaglesfield, near Cockermouth, in Cumberland, England. His father was a weaver. He acknowledged his before time learning from his father and from Quaker John Fletcher, who ran a personal school in the close-by village of Pardshaw Hall. 

1815- Cornishman Sir Humphry Davy patents miner’s protection lamp

The Davy lamp is a safety lamp for use in flammable atmospheres. It was made-up in 1815 by Sir Humphry Davy. It consists of a wick lamp with the flame enclosed inside a web display. It was formed to make use of coal mines, to decrease the hazard of blasts due to the existence of methane and additional combustible gases. On October 31 Cornishman Sir Humphry Davy patented a miner’s protection lamp. And The first trial of a Davy lamp with a wire strainer was at Hebburn Colliery on 9 January 1816.

1864- Nevada admitted as 36th state of the Union 

On October 31, 1864, nervous to have held up the Republican-dominated Nevada Territory for President Abraham Lincoln’s reelection, the U.S. Congress rapidly accepted Nevada as the 36th state in the Union. In 1864, Nevada had only 40,000 people, significantly short of the 60,000 usually necessary for statehood. Mainly inaccessible from the main theaters of the disagreement, Nevada nevertheless served as a vital aim for political and financial strategists earlier and after gaining statehood. 

1922- Benito Mussolini (IL Duce) becomes premier of Italy

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was an Italian politician and journalist who established and led the National Fascist Party. He was Prime Minister of Italy from the Fascist coup in 1922 to his deposition in 1943 and Duce of Italian Fascism from the establishment of the Italian Fasces of Combat in 1919 to his implementation in 1945.

1936- The Boy Scouts of the Philippines created

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, BSP, is the national Scout association of the Philippines in the World Organization. It was “approved gratitude as a Member Organization of the Boy Scouts International Conference. With consequence from October 31, 1936” by documentations signed by J.S Wilson, Olave Baden-Powell, and Daniel Spry.

For most of the late 20th century and into the 21st century, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines was amongst the largest Scout organizations on the earth in terms of membership count.
