History is something that illuminates the culture and its origin. It also forecasts the awareness and how and when everything evolved and fell into place. 1788 – The Constitutional Convention authorizes the first federal election 

A constitutional Convention is an assembly with the objective of writing a new constitution or revising an existing constitution. The United States Constitution was established from the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia to address the problems of the weak central government that existed under the Articles of Confederation IN 1787. The United States Constitution inaugurated a federal government with more specific powers, including those related to conducting relations with foreign governments. The Constitution came into effect in 1789. Thus, the Convention authorized the first federal elections resolving that electors in all the states will be appointed on January 7, 1789.

1845 Michael Faraday discovers the ‘Faraday effect’

While studying the influence of a magnetic field on plane-polarized light waves, Michael Faraday, an English chemist discovered the Faraday effect. The Faraday effect states that the plane of vibration is rotated when the light path and the direction of the applied magnetic field are parallel in the influence of a magnetic field on polarized light. Faraday was one of the greatest scientists in the 19th century and whose experiments were contributed greatly to the understandings of electromagnetism.  

 

1906 1st aeroplane flight in Europe

The Wright brothers invented the first flight in the history in December 1903 while the first flight flew in 1906. It was a Santos-Dumont 14-bis aircraft, a model in Europe named “Oiseau de Proie” that flew for the first time on September 12, 1906. It set the record of being the first aeroplane to have real landing gear and to hold a capacity to take off alone. 

1925 1st US University for African American, Xavier University, opens in New Orleans

Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament founded the coeducational secondary school from which University for African American, Xavier University was evolved. In the south, young black people lacked Catholic-oriented education and awareness of this fact, Katharine Drexel came to New Orleans to establish a high school. “Xavier University,” was the only Catholic institution in the United States that offered “a full four years’ high school course and using this name, the school was cited in 1922. When the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences was established back in 1925, Xavier University of Louisiana became a reality. 

1961 – An unmanned Mercury capsule is orbited and recovered by NASA in a test.

The main objective of the project was to put a man in the Earth’s orbit, even before the Soviet Union. From the time of its official go-ahead to the completion of the 34-hour orbital mission of Astronaut Cooper, the Project Mercury was about 4 2/3 years. The project saw much of the aerospace industry combine their skills, initiative, and experience into a national effort.

2007 – UN adopts non-binding Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

On 13th September, the General Assembly adopted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People. The native people will have the right “to the recognition, observance and enforcement of treaties” concluded with States or their successors in this non-binding text, Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous people. Discrimination against indigenous peoples is prohibited by the Declaration while promoting their effective participation in all matters concerning them is its moto. with 11 abstentions and a vote of 143 in favour to 4 against the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was adopted, exclaiming the maintenance and strengthening of their cultural identities, and emphasizing their right to pursue development in keeping with their own needs and aspirations.
