The first independence day of the decade is here. The year seems to be flying and we are bound to match the pace. The year has been particularly hard for all of us owing to the COVID 19 pandemic, yet we strive to be better as always. 2020 has taught us a lot of things and so has the definition of freedom changed. Today marks the freedom that has been gifted to all of us after struggles of so many years, but today is not an independence day like any other year, the celebrations, people’s perceptions, everything is different this year.
There are no parades that are going to happen as officials feel that it is better to have a low key celebration rather than making it dangerous for everyone. There are also very few secret fireworks that have been scheduled as keeping the COVID 19 situation in mind. Although people have used their creativity to the fullest and have planned different things to celebrate the fourth of July, the day remains one of the quietest celebrations so far.
But, you need not be sad and hurt about all this, as today is a day to celebrate and celebrations can happen anyway. You can plan a short picnic with your family and friends to bring in the day. It would be amazing if you cook amazing dishes for yourself, as well as your family. Also, take the opportunity to spread positivity and help people who might be in urgent need.
Take time out to show gratitude for those warriors who are still fighting to keep the nation safe from all kinds of evils. We thank everyone who is not able to celebrate the ‘holiday’ because your duty calls you.
