1959: Alaska is admitted into the Union as the 49th and largest state.
On January 3, it was a historic day for Alaska. President Eisenhower signed a proclamation that admitted this large state into the Union. The citizens witnessed this as the 49th state of the country. Vitus Bering, a Danish explorer discovered Alaska in 1741. Today, Alaska is a heavily populated state. It is also a tourist destination. A common tourist attraction is an Alaskan cruise. Even though Alaska came late to American history, it still has contributed a huge amount.
1977: Apple Computer Corporation is incorporated.
Today, in 1977 Apple introduced its Computer Corporation to the world. Firstly, Steve Jobs incorporated this corporation into the company in Cupertino, California. Secondly, in today’s day and age, Apple is one of the most successful companies in the world. They not only sell laptops and computers but also mobile phones, watches and more. Moreover, Mike Markkula was a big contributor to the incorporation of Apple Computers. Lastly, since the company has only been growing and reaching remote corners of the world.

Motorola StarTAC was the first-ever flip phone in the world. This was a very historic day in the history of mobile phones. After this, companies majorly started introducing flip phones These mobiles had an era of their own. It was a great invention and Motorola was the pioneer in it. The company applied for its trademark in 1995. Eventually, a year later the company launched the phone. The phone could send receive messages. It even had the vibration alert feature.
1999: Mars Polar Lander is launched.
This spacecraft lander was a robotic lander. On January 3, 1999, NASA launched the Mars Polar Lander. Moreover, astronauts also called it the Mars Surveyor ‘98 Lander. . The main mission of this lander was to analyze the climate data of Mars. It was an extraordinary event. This was also the time when NASA had a hunch of the ample amount of water on planet Mars. Mars Polar landed on the south polar region of the planet.
2014: Former President Obama proposes gun control.
On January 3, 2014 Barack Obama proposed gun control for the United States of America. There was a constant up rise in the violence. Moreover, this was an historic attempt to reduce gun usage in the country. This proposal was under review for over a month. But, eventually people agreed. Mr. Obama believed this was to keep our children safe. Also, more funds were allocated to hire police men. This was a great initiative by the former President.
