London taxi driver George Smith is the first to be fined for drunk driving
On September 10, 1894, George Smith, a taxi driver becomes the first person to be fined for drinking and driving. The reason he was fined was that he slammed his cab into a building and was charged a penalty of 25 shillings. In the United States, the laws against drinking and driving firstly were introduced in 1910, in New York. Later, a device named as Drunkometer was introduced to catch the people who are inebriated. The person needs to breathe in the balloon-like device to have a check.

Lincoln Highway opens as 1st paved coast-to-coast highway
The Lincoln Highway ran coast to coast from times Square in New York City to Lincoln Park in San Francisco. It goes through 13 states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Lowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and California. It is one of the earliest highway routes across the United States of America.It covers a distance of 5454 kilometers with its west end in Lincoln Park in San Francisco to the east end in Times Square In New York.

Mike the Headless Chicken is decapitated in Fruita, Colorado; he survives for another 18 months before choking to death
Mike the headless chicken is also known as Mike-the Magical. Even after he was beheaded, he lived for 18 months i.e. April 20,1945 to March 17, 1947. He was of Gallus Gallus Domesticus Species and of Wyandotte breed. It was hatched in Fruita, Colorado, U.S, and died in Phoenix, Arizona, the U.S. The owner of Mike was named as Llyod Olsen. To recognise this great event, “Mike the Headless Chicken Day” is celebrated annually in Fruita, colorado , on the third weekend of May, starting from 1999. On this day, events include- “5K Run Like a Headless Chicken Race”, egg toss, “Pin the Head on the Chicken”, the “Chicken Cluck-Off”, and “Chicken Bingo”.

New human-like species – Homo Naledi announced by Scientists and a team of archaeologists, found deep in caves in South Africa
It was a breakthrough event in evolutionary research. Scientists in South Africa announced the discovery of a new human species called “Homeo Naledi”. They informed this as a new species of human ancestors. The discoverers believed the fossil fuels are around 2.5 million to 2.8 million years old. It was announced by an international team of more than 60 scientists led by Lee R. Berger.
