1839: Anthracite coal first used to smelt Iron.
Undoubtedly, the Coal Age marks one of the greatest revolutions in the history of the world. However, do you what marks the foundation of metallurgical process used widely today? It was today, on January 12 that a variety of coal called anthracite, was used in the the process of smelting Iron. As everyone knows, Coal was the first fuel which was exploited for commercial energy requirements. Although coal is most widely used as a fuel, but it is also used as a reducing agent in the procedure of smelting of iron using blast furnaces. The word Anthracite before coal indicates that it is used without coking it. The process began in the early 1820s and is put to use even today.
1908: Radio message sent from Eiffel Tower.
On the day of January 12, 1908 the first ever long distance radio message was transmitted from the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was built by an French engineer, Gustave Eiffel. It was built for the World Fair held in Paris. Moreover, it was the then tallest structure in the world. It was in 1908, the tower could find its application for the better implementation of the advancing technology. The scientist managed successful completion of a long distance radio message from atop the tower. In fact a permanent radio station was installed on the tower in 1906. In the years followed, it was transformed into an antenna. Paris Observatory used it for transmitting signals with the United States Observatory.

1939: Timely Comics (later Marvel) comics founded.
The love of children and even adults – MARVEL. The infamous Marvel comics were first releases today in 1939. However, they were published by the name of Timely Comics. The credit of keeping the child in us alive goes to none other than Martin Goodman. He was the published of pulp magazine.
Timely Comics were founded so as to capitalise the craze and liking towards the comics, especially superhero comics. In the early 1960s, the Timely Comics were renamed to Marvel Comics. Even today the theatre adaptations of Marvel Comics have immense popularity. Well, most of us await for the next release of Marvel, don’t we?

Christiano Ronaldo, is a popular Portuguese Football Player. Over the years, he has managed to deliver the best of his performances on field. Ronaldo plays as a forward to Serie A club Juventus. Moreover, he is the captain of Portuguese National Team. His career has witnessed events of major highs and also lows. He has managed to successfully overshadow the thick and thins.
