Everyone has something that scares them the most. It could be anything or even a feeling. And, at least once in our lifetime, we come face to face with our fears and at that time, we have two choices. First, to back down and escape from it or, we can stand tall and face it. Just like this, on February 2, we celebrate Lung Leavin’ Day, which is all about facing our fears and emerging stronger than ever. Along with this we also celebrate World Wetlands Day to celebrate the importance of them for our environment. Let us read further in detail about both the days.
World Wetlands Day
Have you ever though what exactly are wetlands and why are they important? Well, wetlands contains swamps and marshes are known as wetlands. They help in controlling the natural hazards and decrease the chances of violent weathers. Therefore, a healthy wetland leads to healthier people.
History
On February 2, 1997, we celebrated this holiday for the very time. This day brings awareness and remembrance of the Convention on Wetlands of 1971. In order to educate and aware people, both, the convention as well as the World Wetlands Day established. Every year a new theme is selected and remembered what these wetlands mean to humans and the planet.
How To Celebrate
World Wetlands Day could be the perfect excuse to explore the wetlands in your community. Along with your family or friends, find out the wetland near you and go on a nice walk amidst the nature and reconnect. Moreover, you might find some activities going around about on this day. But, if not, do not hesitate to host one!
Lung Leavin’ Day
Realizing you are on your death bed if you do not act fast. In addition to that, you have to think about the young husband and an infant! This agonizing and reality is what the Lung Leavin’ Day is all about. Looking in the eye of your wort fears and choosing to move forward. This day honors all those who took a step forward instead of hiding or escaping from the reality.
History
Every year since 2005, Lung Leavin’ Day is celebrated. It came into existence when Heather Von St. James was faced with the diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma. She stood there frozen, and the first thing to come in her mind was her husband of six years and a baby girl. She had two choice, either leave her condition as it is, which gave her fifteen months live. Or she could try this new radical procedure. And she chose to act!
How To Celebrate
The got the name from Heather’s sister. Every year on February 2, they would gather with all their friends and family and celebrate this day. They all write their biggest fears and concerns on a plate and smash them. It signifies how strong one is. However, if you do not feel comfortable in doing it with a plate, you can try it with the paper also write all your fears and then crumble or tear the paper. Take a moment and smile, and repeat, you are strong.
