Moreover, the day reminds the transition to the digital era as well.
November 29 celebrates International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people and also Electronic Greetings Day.
International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
Solidarity brings in a message of mutual respect and coexistence. Moreover, it serves as a ray of hope. It is alarming to know that Palestinian people are yet on tenterhooks. They have not attained basic rights like that of Sovereignty. They can not even refer to themselves as Independent. The Palestinian territory is under the control of Israel.
November 29 is the day to highlight the fact that many of our people are fighting a battle for their living. Moreover, the brutality faced by them is beyond measure. Every day is a battle. The Palestinian territory has been occupied by Israel ever since the six-day war in the year 1967.
History
It was in the year 1947 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 (II). It was called the Partition Resolution. The Resolution called for the recognition of an Arab State and Jewish State. However, the resolution was never implemented. The Civil War followed. Consequently, an Arab State was not formed. Although by 1948, Israel became a country and took command over the people.
The UN General Assembly called for an annual observance in the year 1977. The partition of Palestine is yet a matter of concern. Every year November 29 serves as a reminder that the Solidarity of the Palestinian people remains unattended until today.
How to Celebrate?
Each year the United Nations headquarters witness a meeting in regards to the day. There is an occurrence of events, screenings, special messages, and meetings. Government officials, educators, and various civil organizations aim to create awareness about the day as well. Moreover, the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva and Vienna host special meetings on this day.
The common public can do their part by at least making themselves aware of the history between Israel and Palestine. You may as well donate to a charity working for the welfare of the Palestinian people. Moreover, you can sign a petition or even watch a movie made on this topic.
Electronic Greetings Day
The day of November 29 recognizes those cute, fun, and even off-putting email greetings. This day highlights the advancement of technology and how our lives are dependent on it. What can really be better than celebrating events of happiness, no matter how big or small with your loved ones? The fact that this can be done through those lovely greetings is adoring in itself. The email greetings were such a thing back in the 1990s when people were new to computers and were exploring every ounce of it.
Electronic Greetings Day not only acknowledges technology but the pleasure and the smile on the face of your near and dear ones after they receive your greeting is beyond measure.
History
This is the digital era. The effect that digital media has on our lives dates back to the era when people were new to the technologies and were set to explore and transform the world we are a part of. Applications like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and even more provide you with a plethora of options to greet someone. It can be through impressive texts, gifs, captivating images, or short videos. The concept more or less remains the same. Back then, people used to send e-greetings via mail to others. So celebrating a day to raise a toast to one of the incredible contributions of technology is indeed worth it.
How to Celebrate?
Do we really need to tell how to celebrate the day to this generation we call Z? The world today is overshadowed by immense technological advancements. People are glued to their screens almost all the time. Why wait for an occasion when you have every day to celebrate. Just visit any electronic greeting card website and make one to share with your loved ones. Not many people actually send e-cards nowadays of course. But all these social media applications basically present to you the modified version of the same old concept. Electronic greetings are far from dead. People have a place for them even today. Let’s get back to the roots and send one today. In case you have never sent any, what better day than today to try it out?
