
July 6, 1785: US Congress unanimously resolves the name of US currency to the “dollar” and adopts decimal coinage
On July 6, 1785, the dollar was adopted as the monetary unit of the United States. The adoption of the dollar began in 1782 when Thomas Jefferson suggested the U.S. adopt the dollar because the Thaler coin was already circulating in many areas in the Spanish and British colonies of North America. At that time, private bank-note companies printed a variety of notes.

1885: Louis Pasteur gave the first successful anti-rabies inoculation.
Before this contribution of Louis Pasteur, people with infections of rabies faced a death. Then, in 1885, Louis Pasteur, along with Emile Roux, developed the first rabies vaccination. He tested his vaccine on a rabbit for the first time, which turned out to be a successful one.
1923: Russian Empire becomes the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
The Central Executive Committee accepts the Treaty of Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, signed in Moscow in December. It legalized a union of several Soviet republics that had existed since 1919, and created a new centralized federal government.
1945: Nicaragua becomes 1st nation to ratify the Charter of the United Nations
In the interim, Nicaragua seized the opportunity, becoming the first nation to ratify the Charter of the United Nations. The UN Charter was originally drafted on August 14, 1941, and became effective on October 24, 1945.
1947: The Ak-47 goes into production in the Soviet Union
