January 26- India proclaims for Independence and more.

Firstly, have you ever thought about how our history affects us? Then, what would we do without our past? Finally, without the guidance of our forefathers? Well, we would be lost. They prepared us for the future. We have completely changed the face of technology. But, it was their guidance that helped us get through the obstacles. Moreover, without their pathways, we would be still looking for answers. Some changed the history of countries. Well, others wrote new futures. Additionally, today we celebrate the mixture of old and new. On January 26, the largest diamond was discovered. Moreover, we see how Michigan got admitted as the 26th state of America.

1837: Michigan admitted as 26th US state.

On January 26, 1837, Michigan became the 26th state of the USA. Also, this was the final extent. Michigan admitted itself in the Union. The state declared Detroit as its capital. Michigan is the state amidst the great lakes. Furthermore, it is in the midwestern part of the nation. It is famous for tourism and agriculture. These are the two main sources of income in the state. This state is incredibly famous for fishing. Considering that it has one of the longest coastlines in the States.

1905: World’s largest Diamond discovered.

In the year 1905, miners found the largest diamond. They named it the Cullinan Diamond. This diamond was excavated from South Africa. Specifically, in Pretoria. This diamond honored the Chairman of the mining company that found it. The diamond was 3,106 metric carats. In addition to that, it was humongous in size. The interesting fact about this diamond is that it was presented to finish rivalries. The government of Transvaal presented the diamond to King Edward VII to finish the rifts between them.

1924: Petrograd, city in Russia is renamed Leningrad.

On January 26, Petrograd became Leningrad. The government also changed the name in the future. Today, we call it Saint Petersburg. This is the second-largest city in Russia. It provides its tourists with beautiful landscapes and sceneries. Moreover, the city lies on the banks of the Neva river. The government changed the name in 1924 after the death of their ruler Lenin. Multiple islands are present in this city. And the city is full of history and its enriching events.

1929: Indian National Congress proclaims for India’s independence.

January 26 is a very special day for Indians. India celebrates this day as Republic Day. Moreover, in 1929, the country proclaimed its independence. It had been a long journey. The Britishers ruled over the nation for 100 years. The brave fighters of the country fought for their country and made them proud. Today, the Indian Constitution came into being.

2005: Condoleezza Rice becomes Secretary of State making her the highest-ranking first African American woman to ever serve US cabinet.

On January 26, 2005, George Bush appointed Condoleezza Rice as Secretary of State. This was the first time an African American woman was at such a high ranking. Today, USA created history. This is a position in the presidential election. Furthermore, her duties included advanced degrees in political science and international relations. She was a woman of a high ranking and created history.
