1776: First American fraternity Phi Beta Kappa is founded.
American fraternities have always been an integral part of college life. The first fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa was founded today. Furthermore, it was established in the College of William and Mary in Virginia. These societies use Greek letters to name their sororities. In this community, students openly discussed nonacademic topics. They also contributed to an exchange of views about politics. Moreover, this was a safe place for students to debate about topics that were controversial in those times. It was the beginning of one of the most vital aspects of college life in the USA.
1861: In the U.S. Congress petitions and bills calling for the abolition of slavery are introduced.
Slavery was one of the most painful aspects of our history. Although, they say we can revolutionize our past. Moreover, we have the power to change it. George A. Taylor was the pioneer of building the first glider flight in Australia. In addition to that, he built this airplane only six years after the first flight by the Wright Brothers. Taylor made this invention 111 years ago. George was the designer of this airplane. Moreover, he was also the man who courageously flew his own design. He went on to make over 29 glider planes. Furthermore, Taylor made these exceptional beauties near New South Wales in Australia.
1912: Italy, Austria, Germany renew Triple Alliance for six years.
Three countries signed an agreement called The Triple Alliance. These countries were Italy, Germany, and Austria. Additionally, they endorsed his treaty during World War I. Firstly, this was a promise from all three countries to support each other if they were attacked by France. Secondly, this was an important accord between the three countries as they needed each other’s support during times of War. Although, this agreement was renewed on December 5 for the last time.
1916: David Lloyd becomes British Prime Minister.
On December 5 1916 David Lloyd took his seat as Prime Minister. Firstly, he was a Welsh statesman who served the United Kingdom for five years. Secondly, this man was a wartime chancellor. Lloyd played a vital role in boosting the country’s finances and taking productions to new heights. Lastly, he also majorly contributed to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. Lastly, people also called David Lloyd the war leader of those times.
