1919: Great Britain institutes a new constitution for India.
December 23 was an historic day in the past of India. The Britishers were ruling on the nation. They had been doing so for quite some while now. On this day, they formed a new constitution for India and set different expectations from the country. The Constitution is considered to be the Supreme Law of the country. Moreover, in those times the Britishers formed the Constitution in regards to what they felt were the needs and wants of their conquered nation.
1947: Bell Labs demonstrates the world’s first Transistor Radio.
It was chilly winter morning when the Bell Telephone Laboratories changed the face of modern radio technology. Today, John Bardeen and Walter Brattain displayed to their colleagues the first Transistor Radio. Back in those days, letters and word of mouth were the only sources of news. With this invention, news could travel longer distances in a shorter period of time. William Shockley, an MIT alumnus helped both the inventors in understanding the technical aspects of the radio.
1974: The B1 bomber makes its first successfully takes off.
On December 23, 1974 the first B1 Bomber successfully took off. This iconic event took place at California. This airplane was a test flight. Furthermore, Colonel Charles Bock Jr. Flew this airplane. This airplane was an integral part of World War I. Moreover, it was a heavily strategic fighter plane and helped a lot of countries win wars across the globe. This first bomber flight was 70 minutes in duration. And, it flew over 250 miles.
1986: The Voyager completes the first nonstop flight around the world.
Today, the Voyager completed a trip around the world with only one-time fuel. The pilots for this plane were Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager. The landing took place at California. The idea for the Voyager came to the minds of Mr. Burt and Ms. Yeager at their lunch tables. Private investors funded the entire idea. It only weighed a light 939 pounds. This was an historic event in the past of America.
1954: First human kidney transplant.
On December 23, in Boston Massachusetts the first human kidney transplant took place. Dr. Joseph E. Murray performed this surgery. Also, this operation was done in Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. Dr. Murray was famous for organ transplant in those times. From the very beginning he wanted to be a surgeon. Today, his entire career was uplifted due to the first-time surgery. He played an integral part as doctor during the second World War.
