Today – March 4

On the fourth day of the third month of the year, we observe National Grammar Day and World Obesity Day. March 4 is the day for all the grammar nazis. On this day, they can emphasize the correct usage of grammar in both verbal and written language. While we celebrate an important part of the language, the day also focuses on an essential factor of health. World Obesity Day highlights the various environmental and medical attributes that lead to high obesity rates.

National Grammar Day

Ever thought about what will be language without grammar? Although grammar is just a set of rules that provides structure to the language. Yet, it is so vital in our everyday lives. March 4 observes National Grammar Day every year. The day dedicates to everyone realize how grammar helps us to ensure that our intended meaning comes across.

History of this day

This holiday was founded in 2008 by Martha Brockenbrough, the founder of the Society for the Promotion of Grammar and author of “Things that make us [Sic].” In its inaugural year, former President George W. Bush wrote a letter commemorating the day. Martha founded this day to help her students learn grammar in a lively way.

She chose 4 March because it was teaching too – “March Forth!” She wants people to speak well, to be good at writing, and to help others do the same. Truly, a remarkable day for people to celebrate grammar, and teach useful tricks to help improve it.

How to celebrate it?

  • Revise the grammar rules that you might not remember now.
  • Read about funny grammar mistakes.
  • Check out a new book, blog, or website that might help you to increase the vocabulary.

World Obesity Day was started as an annual campaign earlier. But later gained momentum and the doctors, and all those working towards the cause expanded the events. It was initially celebrated on October 11 but afterward moved to March 4 by The World Obesity Federation. The initiative sets up to stimulate practical solutions to the disease on a global level. Additionally, to spread words to help people achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
