How Teletherapy has De-stigmatized Mental Health Taboo

Mental Health is one of the most important aspects of a human being. From time immemorial, society has considered mental health issues taboo. But, with time doctors and therapists have started addressing the importance of a good mental state. Furthermore, advanced teletherapy programs have been introduced. With the onset of COVID-19, teletherapy has taken huge leaps towards destigmatizing mental health. Moreover, virtual doctors and nurses have proved to help people with different issues such as depression, anxiety, panic triggers, etc.

Teletherapy during the pandemic:

The coronavirus global pandemic has reduced human contact to minimal. Researchers have mentioned how mental health issues have been on the rise with everyone living indoors constantly. Also, people are adjusting to new norms such as working from home, wearing masks at all times, and more. In such times, teletherapy is your friend. You can schedule appointments with therapists over the phone. Or you can also have video conference appointments. In the past year, studies show that there is a major spike in the usage of these services, as people need not step out of their homes to reach a therapist. The best part of this feature is doctors accommodate your needs and make sure you are at utmost comfort. With COVID-19, a lot of patients were stranded mid- therapy. Now with the advanced mechanisms of telehealth, you can continue your therapy sessions sitting at home.

Change in Teletherapy Barriers:

There have been changes in teletherapy regulations. With the increase in demand, with easier access and lenient barriers, people can access services online. The U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) relaxed standards. Additionally, with these changes, you can meet your doctors online at all times. Now HHS is encouraging people with mental health issues to look forward to teletherapy and the advances of telemental services. They are also including substance use disorders under this category. Finally, with advanced therapy knacks and highly qualified doctors, patients are always in good hands.

Well taken care of Privacy:

One good thing about telemental services is their privacy policies. Patients are usually scared of

Confidential contents

what society will think about them. And like we mentioned earlier therapy is a stigma in the majority of parts of the country. Well, with the strict policies of telehealth, no one will know until you decide to tell them. All you have to do is book some initial sessions with your therapist. They will note down your personal information for their records. And, once all your information is in the system you can start regular therapy sessions.

Some new challenges:

Even though there are multiple advantages to telehealth and its mental services, there might be some new challenges. As you are doing your sessions at home it can be difficult to not get interrupted sometimes. Moreover, this is a reasonably new system and we are going to take time to adjust to these new norms. Moreover, remote areas can have network issues. And hence, difficulty in connecting with the doctors. This is a significant advance in the medical sector. In addition to that. Doctors cannot perfect it overnight. But, with time and patience, these flaws can be overcome.

In conclusion, teletherapy is one of the best options for mental health issues. All you have to do is get in touch with telemental experts and it is a smooth ride from there. With such open talk about mental health, day by day we are diminishing the so said taboo about mental health. People are more accommodative to the idea of tackling mental health issues. Moving on we can only hope  things get better. And people get required help on time. Teletherapy and its advancements are helping more and more patients every day. Not only is it a boost in confidence, but also at your own comfort.
