1920- This was a big decade for the introduction of well-known dances, including the Charleston and the black-Bottom
2010– National Dance Day was started by Nigel Lythgoe and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton as a means to promote a healthy lifestyle.
2019– National Dance Day moves from July to September to be more aligned with the academic year and student-based partnerships. As of 2019, National Dance Day takes place on the third Saturday of September.
