Christmas is celebrated on December 25 every year. It’s the most joyful and awaited festival of the year. This day commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.  Many millennials also actively partake in the event. It is a religious and cultural event. People embellish their homes with beautiful Christmas trees, garlands, and mistletoes. Everyone gathers around song carols and enjoys the festival.

History

Christians believe that today the son of God, Jesus Christ was born. He was born about 2000 years back in a small town of Nazareth. Although the exact date of his birth is now known to anyone, the church authorities decided to mark this day as his birthday. Eucharist or Communion is a Mass service. Disciples say that Jesus Christ died for his people and then came to life again in the village of Nazareth. So,’ Christ-Mass’ was the only one that was allowed to take place after dusk and before the sunrise. It was midnight time that the celebration started. Henceforth, people know the day as as ‘Christmas’.

Christmas is a very cheerful festival. Everyone is in a holiday spirit and celebrate it with some rituals and other events. Many people meet their family and friends. They get a Christmas tree for their homes and embellish it with Christmas ornaments, peppermint baubles, red ribbons and garlands, warm lights, and a star topper. People bake cookies, rum cakes, and enjoy a fine with their family.

Kids are hear stories about how Santa would come on his reindeers with jingling bells and grant them their wishes. They also hang a stocking on the mantle-piece, so that Santa can put the gift in it. Carolers go singing carols from door-to-

door. However, they do it for the church and collect donations. People go to Christmas fates and enjoy some nice rides and food. Also, people go ice-skating and snow-sledding. Christmas movies are another fad. Movie lovers watch Home Alone and How Grinch Stole Christmas at least once!

Moreover, Church attendance and Nativity play is a must. The nativity play is the play that recounts the story of Jesus Christ’s nativity. People exchange gifts and Christmas cards too as a gesture of goodwill.
