Today we celebrate National Massachusetts Day on August 17th, recognizing the first novel England colony and the sixth state to join the Union. Named after the native people who inhabited the area when explorers (and later the pilgrims) first here, Massachusetts became an incubator for sovereignty, learning, and manufacturing.
