Since adults get time only at night for other things after coming back from work. Hence, the name. Books play an integral part in our lives. Therefore just take out half an hour or an hour to read. Also, it is good to read a book before sleeping rather than gawking at a screen.
History
The idea of World Book Night Day was born in the head of Jamie Byng, MD of Canongate. He realized that if children can have a day for reading books then why not adults. It created a pathway for adults to read books after gaining success. Therefore, it was celebrated in the United States on April 23, 2012, and 2013. Initially celebrated in March, it was moved from March to April to coincide with UNESCO’s International Day of the Book in 2012. In late 2013 it became part of the Reading Agency. The organization focused on helping and encouraging others to read more books. Therefore, books are given to people in libraries, colleges, prisons, hospitals, homeless shelters, and their communities each year. Also, over 50,000 people gave books to others on this day.
How to celebrate
World Book Night can help us dust off our beloved books and sit the whole night and read. Also, living in another world until you decide that you are tried. So, what are you waiting for? Grab a good book and start reading. You can encourage people by giving away some books. Also, if you can, give away books to a homeless shelter, a child care center, and a hospital. Furthermore, ask your family members and friends about their favorite books and encourage them to read those. And all the non-readers out there, you do not have to worry about your friends making you read a thick book. You can read a thin book. Also, with this, you can develop a reading habit which will help you in the long run.
