June 18 – International Picnic Day and more

Every day should be welcomed with happiness and gratitude and new opportunities to celebrate. This gratitude should be celebrated in all ways you can. So, we through this Today column, bring to you the amazing reasons you can use to enjoy your day.

INTERNATIONAL PICNIC DAY

Today is a chance to eat out in the open air with friends or family. Where is the work picnic originated from? It comes from the French language. It is believed that this type of informal outdoor meal became a popular pastime in France after the Revolution. The origins of this day are not certain. Picnic Day is celebrated in many countries. This day is celebrated with charity events, school picnics, and all other kinds of outdoor group meals.

INTERNATIONAL SUSHI DAY

International Sushi Day was celebrated in 2009 for the first time to encourage the world to eat and love more sushi. A fun fact about this dish is that ‘Southeast Asians developed the original type of sushi, which consisted of fish wrapped in souring, fermenting rice. The dish, then spread to southern China before reaching Japan.’  But, how did it originate? Wrapping it with salted and fermented rice was a method of storing and preserving h for later consumption. The rice was thrown away when it was ready to eat, and only the fish was consumed. Sushi moved from a way to preserve fish to a new form of cuisine. The way it is eaten today originated from the Japanese culture.

Today, create your own sushi with your favorite ingredients. Call a loved one to your favorite sushi point or to your place. Sushi, as a dish, is loved by all because of its taste and variety and also its health benefits.

NATIONAL GO FISHING DAY

Go Fishing Day celebrates the quiet, meditative moments spent on a riverbank. This is a great day for those individuals who find solace in the pursuit of this elusive prey. This little hobby can develop into much more than just a Sunday morning time pass. Fishing, as a sport, requires both, patience and strength. Many people do it for a living. Something which started as a way to feed civilization, has now become a major industry, yielding billions of dollars annually.

The benefits of fishing not only includes the great suntan you can get whilst sitting on the riverbanks or pondside whilst fishing, but also the skill and diligence demanded by this sport. Fishing also boosts the immune system. It increases strength and enhances the cardiovascular system. It promotes relaxation when you sit in the lap of nature, getting a daily dose of fresh air and Vitamin D. It promotes a calm nature that is mentally and physically beneficial. It can lower your blood pressure. The simplest day to celebrate this day is to go out for fishing.
