Proceed towards the new month with a positive thought to get better and break your own records to create history. Do something great today and we might publish it in our history column in the future. We, at Brag Social, try to keep you updated and aware of the happenings around the world. So, let us move ahead with the historical milestones of July 2:

1926: Congress established the Army Air Corps

The United States Army Air Corps was activated on July 2, 1926, as an aerial warfare service component of the United States Army. However, it was disbanded on September 18, 1947. It was headquartered at the Munitions Building, Washington, D.C.

1964: President Lyndon Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act into law

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It was first proposed by President John F. Kennedy, when it survived strong opposition. This day was marked as a triumph for freedom as huge as any victory won on any battlefield.

1976: North and South Vietnam are officially reunified

July 2, 1976, marked the beginning of the transition period towards reunification with the national election for national reunification, when the Republic of South Vietnam and North Vietnam merged the two independent countries, forming the modern-day as Vietnam. It is also known as the Reunification Day.

1980: President Jimmy Carter reinstates draft registration for males 18 years of age

In response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, President Jimmy Carter signed the Proclamation 4771, retroactively re-establishing the Selective Service registration requirement for all 18- to 26-year-old male citizens.
