The previous year, 2020, saw the outbreak of a deadly virus, SARS‐CoV‐2, leading to the emergence of the Covid-19 disease. Ever since then, there has been no stoppage to the spread of this life-threatening virus. Though according to the WHO (World Health Organization), the coronavirus has accounted for a global pandemic. The actual truth goes much beyond that.
Apart from being a health crisis, it is more of a humanitarian crisis, an economic crisis and, a social crisis. There is not a single parameter of a person’s lifestyle that the fatal virus has not touched. Starting from financial drainage to mental breakdowns, the virus has made us seen all.
Social Impact
The pandemic has once again brought to surface the country’s social reality. With the poor being attacked the most, and the ones with chronic illnesses being the most vulnerable, the apparent social equilibrium has been distorted. There is no aid for the ones who need it the most. The truth of privilege and under privilege has out-rightly broadcasted itself.
The requirements needed to curb the hike of the virus, are not easily accessible for all. This includes personal hygiene, an inflow of sanitizers and masks, and a proper diet consisting of nutrition. However, the sad reality that prevails is that most of the people in our country cannot afford any of these resources.
It is pertinently believed that if the pandemic continues for a year or so more after this, it will incessantly give a rise to global unemployment, discrimination, and social seclusion.
Economic Impact
The social impact is just a fragment of a section of problems. Another problem that has arisen out of the Covid-19 pandemic, is the economic impact. The coronavirus pandemic, in the company of a national lockdown, has taken away the livelihoods of many. With many people losing their jobs owing to financial losses, it has affected the overall economic background of the country as well.
Either people have lost all their savings after paying bills of hospitals and quarantine centers, or people have had to let go of their permanent source of income. The situation has got so out of one’s control, that even with rising cases, the government cannot call for another national lockdown. They know that if a lockdown gets imposed again, the economic resources of the country will become empty. It reminds one of getting stuck in deep water, if you go down you drown, if you swim, you get eaten by sharks.
Physical Impact
Coming to the physical impact, all of it is more or less evident. The virus has taken a toll on everybody’s physical health and well-being. With people’s oxygen saturation dropping, the death toll has risen like never before. People’s lungs, chest, eyes, nose, every part deteriorating day by day, more and more, all because of the no cure coronavirus.
The Covid-19 infection is no more limited to just being a type of viral infection. It has crossed the boundaries of definition for it. It has turned out to be a severe illness, which affects the oxygen level of a person and makes them weak for months. The symptoms that range from fever, cough, sore throat, loss of smell and taste can lead up to deadly consequences.
Psychological Impact
Besides the physical aspects, another aspect has also seen the rampage of the obnoxious Covid pandemic. It is the mental health of a person. The way the mental well-being of a person has been affected due to this Covid-19 pandemic is beyond understandable.
Many people have slid into depression. People are experiencing anxiety and stress, and there is a constant feeling of hopelessness in people. People are finding it easier to give up their lives, rather than facing the hardships of a worldwide pandemic. With no faith left in humanity and its resources, people are breaking down more often than not.
Emotional Impact
The mental well-being of a person and their emotional well-being is interlinked. People are facing an emotional numbness, where they are feeling overwhelmed even in the smallest of things. This factor gets further aggravated by the fact that people are also losing their loved ones at a rate like never before.
Along with mental trauma, there is an override of emotional trauma that people are going through. People are not only physically unwell but also emotionally at a very low phase.
Conclusion
With the coronavirus spread pushing everyone towards the jaws of death and sadness, there is still hope that maybe the suffering ends soon. People are putting faith in vaccines and foreign aids, thinking that all this might help the country fight this deleterious virus.
The concern no more bounds only to a person’s physical bodies and well-being. It now revolves around emotional, mental, economic and, social welfare as well. Every facet that the virus is harming should be looked into, and proper measures should be taken to handle all of them equally.
Everything should be taken care of before it gets too late.
