NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

This is an annual day of observance help on the first Thursday of every May. On this day, the President is required to sign a proclamation by law each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. So, this year, President Donald Trump will commemorate the National Day of Prayer amid pandemics in the Rose Garden. This day was designated by the United States Congress.

How people celebrate the National Day of Prayer?

While some people will attend interdenominational prayer events, others will attend the church, mosque, synagogue, monasteries, or temple of their choice to pray. Some people gather for prayer or meditation. The COVID-19 outbreak has locked everyone into their homes. This year, the citizens are celebrating this day inside their homes, praying to God for the pandemic and its victims.

COSMOPOLITAN DAY

This day is not about the gathering of people from different countries, it is about one of the most famous cocktails, the cosmopolitan. This drink highlights the 90’s as the best drink of its time. Cosmopolitan is informally known as cosmo.

Coined by Jace Shoemaker-Galloway, a freelance writer. The origin of the cocktail cosmopolitan dates back to 1968. Ocean Spray wanted to advertise cranberry juice to adults which had vodka, cranberry, and a squeeze of lime. This was very close to Cosmo. It is also said to have its roots in the gay subculture of Miami, Florida, and Provincetown, and Massachusetts. The credit of the formal invention of the drink goes to a bartender named Toby Cecchini. He made the drink while working at the famous Odean in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood in 1987.

The cocktail quickly spread into the celebrity culture and gained popularity. Also, when it was pictured with celebrities and appeared on TV. This was the time when it made a cultural impact on the U.S.
