Due to human activities, our Earth is in trouble. Because of our actions, there are so many changes on the earth and its atmosphere. The rise in earth’s temperature, global warming, increase in greenhouse gases, pollution, and many more. The list is endless and to change this we celebrate Earth Day. Every year on April 22, Earth Day is celebrated to create awareness about the dangers our planet is in. Moreover, this year, it is a more special celebration. Since it is the 50th anniversary of the Earth Day celebration.
The founder of earth day is Gaylord Nelson. He was a former U.S. senator. The idea of earth day was born in his mind after witnessing the oil spill in Santa Barbara, California in 1969. An anti-war student movement helped and inspired him to shift the energy from that to pollution on earth. After a lot of effort and hard work, he finally got a chance to have a message on national television in 1970. As a result, there were more than 20 million Americans on the roads for rallies to support the cause. In 1990, it became a global celebration.
