We must have seen people hunting animals, hurting stray dogs, and harming harmless animals. Also seen companies testing their products wrongfully on animals. And, animals being abused in zoos and amusement parks. Thus, whether there be any end to these merciless actions. Abuse means inflict someone with pain, harm, or violence. Therefore, Animal Cruelty is the malpractice of treating animals with cruel and unethical behavior. People believe that they have their right to animals, they can treat them in whatever way they want. Animals are the one who requires much love from people. However, cases of animal cruelty are increasing every day. People just kill animals for their satisfaction or fun.

Bestiality: A heinous crime

With the various cruelties against animals, the heinous crime of bestiality is increasing every day at an alarming rate. Bestiality is the term for intercourse between humans and non-human. It refers to the heinous act of a human having sexual intercourse with an animal.

Most persons believe that animals do not have any kind of right in their life. Their life is less important. Women victims of domestic violence say that their husbands had a history of killing and harming animals. The study of criminal psychology says that people who do animal cruelty, make humans their next target.

Laws implemented for Animal Cruelty

The Animal Welfare Act

The Animal Welfare Act is the primary federal animal protection law, which was signed in the form of an actin 1966. This act involves animals kept in zoos and used in laboratories. This law also is for animals that are commercial bred and sold in Mills. The AWA directs the Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture to set minimum limitations regarding these animals’ “handling, care, treatment, and transportation.” This Animal Welfare Act also prohibits Dogfighting and cockfighting. violations of this Animal Welfare Act include license suspensions and revocations, civil penalties, and misdemeanor criminal penalties.

The “28 Hour Law”

The 28 hour law came into action in the year 1873. This law is especially for animals that are transporting for slaughtering. Thus, this animal cruelty law stops those vehicles every 28 hours to allow animals to exercise, food and water. This law is not for those animals who are being transported in vehicles with access to food or water. If someone breaks this law, then the transporter will be penalized with a penalty of $100 to $500.

The Endangered Species Act

This Animal Cruelty Act legally comes into action in 1973. The Endangered Species Act deals with the protection of fish, mammals, and birds. As well as plants – which are on the list of extinct species in the United States and beyond. This law also restricts any kind of action which causes a “taking” of any listed species of extinct fish or wildlife.

The Endangered Species Act is very significant with the reason it saves our native fish, plants, and other wildlife from extinction. Once gone, they’re gone, there’s not an option of the rebirth of these species. Losing even a single species can have a disastrous effect on the rest of the ecosystem because the impacts will because throughout the food chain.

The PACT (Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture) Act:

The PACT act was signed into law in 2019. This act is broadly for egregious forms of animal cruelty — specifically crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating, impaling, or sexual exploitation. This law prohibits any person from inflicting, causing, or if it is the owner, permitting, unnecessary pain or suffering to any animal. The Act makes it a crime to beat, kick, torture, mutilate, administer an injurious substance, or cruelly kill an animal. The Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act of 2010 banned the creation and sharing of the “crush videos” — where people torture, crush and kill small animals.

Ways to Prevent Animal Cruelty

• Become a responsible owner to care for the pet. Be aware of the needs of your pet and give your pet a positive experience that results in its well-being.
• Give shelter to the animal, who is suffering from any kind of illness. There are so many Foster Homes that help to recover these animals and provide them with a loving home.
• Interfere if you see any animal cruelty and abuse. Do whatever is in your hand to protect them. Report these kinds of matters to the police.
• Educate people around your neighborhood about the issue of Animal Cruelty. Although, animals also have the right to live on the earth without any fear or pain.
