Nova Scotia Heritage day is celebrated in the province of Nova Scotia. This is a public holiday. Every year, people celebrate this day on the third Monday of February. Today marks the celebration of the noble Nova Scotian culture. Every year, the people of Nova Scotia honor a notable person who has done something for the people. Moreover, the school children choose the honoree and this year Edward Francis Arab will receive the honor. Furthermore, the other parts of Canada celebrate the National Family Day today. While, people in the United States celebrate President’s Day.
History
The first Nova Scotian Day was celebrated on February 16th, in 2015. The day established, to celebrate notable personalities, events and landmarks of their history and culture. Viola Desmond was the first person to receive the Nova Scotian honor. She was a civil rights activist and a businesswoman. Furthermore, she was Black Nova Scotian descent. Once, she did not get a ticket in the white-only area of Roseland theater. It proved to be the turning point of her life. However, people celebrate this day, in full swing from the last six years. And this year, it falls on February 15.
How to celebrate
It is a holiday made to spend time with your family and learn more about your culture. Therefore, visit the museum tours to know about your heritage. Furthermore, visit the exhibitions and enjoy. You can go out for skiing, ice skating, and hockey games.
Singles Awareness Day
Singles Awareness Day, celebrated on February 15, every year. It is also known as the Singles Appreciation day for all single people out there. Moreover, the main purpose of this day is for the singles to celebrate their singlehood. It is an unofficial holiday just like Valentine’s Day. The people who do not have a relationship, unmarried or single, celebrate this day. It is to mark the celebration of love you have for your families and friends.
History
In 2001, Dustin Barnes and his friends decided to celebrate their singlehood in their high school. They not only chose February 15 to protest against Valentine’s day but also to get candies at a huge discount. Moreover, when Barnes popularized this day when he went to college. Therefore, Singles Awareness Day gained a legitimate copyright in 2005. People started going on friends dates, giving gifts and throwing parties for their single friends and themselves. As a result, people from all around the world, celebrate this day.
How to Celebrate
It is very simple to celebrate this day. First and foremost, start by loving yourself. Also, self love is more important than being loved by others. Look around, you are always surrounded by love. Therefore, do not think that you are lonely. Go out with your single friends and have fun. If you do not want to go out then stay at home watching movies or shows, cooking and pampering yourself.
