Pioneer II was launched on 5th April 1973. This satellite was sent behind its sister ship in July, 1974. Moreover, Pioneer II also sent direct pictures of Saturn five years later. This was an iconic moment in history. This ship studied the particles causing the energy in the outer hemisphere of space. Unfortunately, 21 years later, Pioneer II sent out its last transmission. It is believed the antennae has steered away from Earth. No one knows whether it is still trying to emit signals.

Pope John Paul II was elected head of the Catholic Church. He also was a sovereign of the Vatican City. On this iconic day, he met with the Georgian Orthodox Church. Additionally, this was the first time in 1000 years this event had occurred. This incident was a reflection of a long-lost dream of the Pope. He wanted to reconcile with the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodoxy. Furthermore, this event was seen as an extended olive branch by the Pope.
