November 26 – Thanksgiving Day and more

The week of Thanksgiving is something that everyone looks forward to. You meet your family, friends. In fact, you can certainly go on an adventure by yourself. You and everybody have been eagerly waiting for thanksgiving day. Thankfully the wait is over today. That is to say that today is Thanksgiving Day. Similarly, this day holds significance for many other fascinating historic events. This November 26 get to know about Thanksgiving day and more events of the past.

1789 – Thanksgiving day celebrated for the first time

President George Washington declared November 26, 1789, as Thanksgiving day. This is the day Thanksgiving Day got celebrated for the first time officially. To honor the new constitution, he proclaimed this day. From that year on, every year we celebrate Thanksgiving day on this day. Representative Elias Boudinot is the presenter of the thanksgiving resolution. On October 3, 1789,  the day of Thanksgiving is decided to be November 26. This day is marked for the independence of the constitution and government.

1842 – The University of Notre Dame founded

The University of Notre Dame is founded on November 26, 1842. It is a catholic university in Notre Dame, Indiana. It is mostly known for its wide variety of research areas. They have outstanding research in the fields of engineering, science, technology, and other areas that are important for future development. The curriculum of the college is inclusive of academics, like skills and intellectual subjects. This allows students to find their niche and become connoisseurs in their chosen domain.

1966 – 1st major tidal power plant opens 

Harnessing energy is easier with tidal power plants. It has not reached its maximum potential level yet now. It will improve and have more uses in the future. The first-ever considerable tidal power plant opened at Rance Estuary in France. By 1966, tidal energy reached most ears. Yet this power plant marked a major improvement in the field of energy. Not only did it bring up a new harnessing method, but also gave incentives for new ones. Hence, we can safely say that the importance of energy and electricity started here. As a result, a lot of tidal power plants have come up all across the world.

2018 –  First Multidrug Ebola Trial

Ebola as you may know is a deadly virus, usually animal bourne. It leads to organ failure and huge blood loss. Nobody knows the origin of Ebola. Thanks to evolving medicines, it is treatable now. The Democratic Republic of Congo is the first to conduct a controlled trial to treat Ebola. It is also a randomized multidrug trial. Being so, allowed the conduction of tests to be wholesome and easy. For instance, the more people are tested, the better and faster all symptoms are discovered. Both seen and unseen ones. In turn, this allowed maximum coverage. WHO announced this on November 26, 2018. The ministry of health of DRC did this trial to test the effectiveness of the drugs and to find the best solution to save as many lives as possible.

2018 – InSight mission lands on Mars

working on this mission for months. Firstly, the team constituted of over a hundred engineers, researchers, scientists, and other disciplines. Secondly, these people were from different countries as well.  The three main instruments of the Insight are:-

  • Heat Flow and Physical Properties Probe
  • Rotation and Interior Structure Experiment
  • Seismic experiment for the interior structure

The huge team of scientists did rejoice after the Mars touchdown. This should ideally be the celebration moment. However, this is not the case. They were all holding their breath in silence. Only when the Insight showed signs of perfect functioning after the landing did the scientists breathed a sigh of relief.
