In-vitro fertilization or IVF is the most popular type of assisted reproductive technique (ART). IVF is a blessing for couples who have complications or are infertile. It works with the combinations of surgical methods and medications. The procedure includes sperm fertilizing an egg and implanting the fertilized egg in the uterus. Firstly medicines are given to the patient. Then the egg and sperm are taken out of the body and fertilized in the labs. Also, the embryo can be frozen rather than implant in the uterus.

The success rate of IVF is different in different people. The American Pregnancy Association states that the live birth rate for women under age 35 undergoing IVF is 41 to 43 percent. But the rate falls to 13 to 18 percent for women over the age of 40. Furthermore, your condition decides what IVF will be used for you. The different conditions for IVF are woman’s egg and partner’s sperm; woman’s egg and donor sperm; donor’s eggs and partner’s sperm; donor egg and donor sperm or donated embryos. A surrogate or gestational carrier is also an option for implantation.

Need

IVF is a need for couples who want to have a baby but are infertile. Since IVF is an expensive treatment therefore it is not the first option that such couples go for. The other options which couples go for are usually fertility drugs or intrauterine insemination. Intrauterine insemination is the process where the sperm is directly transferred to the uterus. IVF may be necessary for various conditions. This includes reduced fertility in women over the age of 40, unexplained infertility, endometriosis, reduced ovarian function, blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, uterine fibroids, or male infertility, such as low sperm count or abnormalities in sperm shape. Furthermore, people who are afraid of passing any genetic disorder to their baby also go for this treatment. Medical tests are done to check for genetic abnormalities and then the implantation is done. The embryo implanted is free of any genetic disorder.

Preparations

There are various tests for IVF treatment. Women have to give blood samples for testing of levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Also, they undergo ovarian reserve testing. This test will provide information about the size and quality of the eggs. Men will undergo sperm testing. The semen sample is taken for testing. This gives information about the size, shape, and number of sperm. Also, the uterus is examined through ultrasound. The endoscopy of the vagina and uterus is also a process for testing. These tests will help the doctor to decide which is the best IVF treatment for you.

Choosing the IVF

Choosing the correct IVF for oneself is a very personal decision. Therefore, there are numerous factors people consider. Also, many questions arise in their minds. These are how many embryos they wish to transfer? The risk of multiple pregnancies increases if a high number of embryos are transferred. Hence most doctors usually transfer only two embryos. How do they feel about having twins or triplets or even quadruplets? Are they willing to donate the unused embryos? If not, then what will be done? What is the emotional state of donated eggs, sperm, and embryos or even a surrogate? Hence, choosing the correct treatment is difficult and the decision has to be made carefully.

Why is a good fertility lab important?

A fertility lab is a place where the egg and the sperm are fertilized to make an embryo. The lab is the place where this treatment is done. Therefore having the right equipment and experts is an important factor. Also, a full-service IVF lab will provide the facility to safely freeze and store eggs, sperm, and embryos. Since the labs are an important part of fertility treatment, they should be given just as much attention as any other aspect of a potential clinic. The lab is a factor that deeply affects IVF treatment, and it can make or break the success of a cycle. It acts as an invisible factor that needs equal attention as the clinic you are visiting.

A lab is exceptional if it has these factors. A highly experienced and qualified laboratory director and staff. Having a staff who knows what they are doing is important. Their qualification and expertise are the defining factors for the success of the treatment. Also, High-quality equipment and supplies are as significant as the experts in the labs. The equipment should be of good quality. If these are not working then should be repaired or replaced without any delay. IF these factors are not in a fertility lab then the success rate of the treatment will be very low. Moreover, the treatment can be unsuccessful. Also, it affects the health of the patient negatively. And the money spent is for nothing. Hence, choosing the correct clinic is essential.

Need for a trusted IVF centers

As we can see the procedure of IVF treatment is long and exhausting. Both emotionally and financially. Since one cannot get insurance for an IVF. Therefore, it becomes more challenging financially. Also, it includes the emotional draining. So it becomes really important to choose the correct IVF center or a fertility clinic. As all hopes and money rely on that center. The center you will choose should be able to give you the desired results. Hence, research well before choosing an IVF center for your treatment.
