As we all know, during this time of the pandemic, COVID-19, the whole of the world has been switched down and different events, all over the world are being canceled or postponed for the future. These events include all kinds ranging from music events, business, tech events to fashion events. Some events have taken the virtual route and helping people enjoy these events from their comfort of their homes.

Met gala

Met Gala was formally known as the Costume Institute Gala or Costume Institute Benefit and also known as the Met Ball. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. It was established in 1948. The great event of Met Gala is widely regarded as among the most prominent and most exclusive social events in the world. It is held on the first Monday of May in the metropolitan museum of art or costume institute. The founder of this event was Eleanor Lambert. The met gala is canceled due to coronavirus this year.

Paris fashion week

Paris fashion week is a series of designer presentations held in spring/summer and winter/autumn biannually in Paris, France each year. The dates of the Paris Fashion Week are determined by the French Fashion Federation. In this event, ready to wear shows are also held famous brands like Dior and all hold their shows in historical places. This event is held throughout the week at different venues. It will be held on September 28 and will be ending on October 6 this year. This event is not canceled and you can go and enjoy this.

Milan fashion week 

It is a trade show held semi-annually in February/march in Milan, Italy. It is a part of the Big Four fashion events. It is organized by the National Chamber of Italian fashion and was inaugurated in 1958. It includes more than 40 shows every season and transforms the city into a touristic hub. The autumn/winter fashion event was held normally from February 18, 2020, and continued till February 24. The spring/summer event of the Milan Fashion Week is returning to its runway, but partially. Some fashion shows are going live on stage, while some are going to participate through digital shows.

Shanghai fashion week 

The Shanghai Fashion Week is held bi-annually every year in Shanghai, each time lasting for seven days. It is a part of the Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival which usually lasts for a month. The event first began in 2001. This fashion event is supported by the country’s Ministry of Commerce. Shanghai Fashion Week is aiming to build up an international and professional platform to attract top design talents from all over the world. It is the world’s first fashion-week event to live stream its entire roster of runway shows, from March 24 to March 30 this year.

London fashion week

This event consists of fashion catwalk shows and surrounding events. It is held semi-annually. It is one of the ’Big Four’ fashion weeks around the world, along with New York, Milan, and Paris, showcasing over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers. It was inaugurated in 1983 around 35 years back. Over 5000 press and buyers are part of this event. The London fashion weekend offers a consumer-oriented fashion experience. The British Fashion Council has the charge of organizing it. It started on September 18 and ended on September 22 this year.

Mercedes – Benz Fashion week 

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is a series of international fashion weeks sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, which is a brand of Daimler AG, and produced by IMG, a division of Endeavor. The famous designers featured during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week include notable designers such as Rosenthal Tee. The genre is clothing exhibitions. This event was inaugurated in 1997. The Mercedez-Benz China Fashion Week Fashion Awards consist of four award categories: Designer Awards that include the “Best Fashion Designer” and “Top Ten Fashion Designer” awards, Fashion Model Awards that include the “Best Fashion Model” and “Top Ten Fashion Model” awards, Fashion Elite Awards that include the “Best Fashion Photographer”, “Best Fashion Commentator” and “Best Stylist” awards, Brand Awards. The information is not clear for this year till now. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2020 stands canceled, which was initially scheduled for 11-15 May 2020, will now not go ahead in 2020 as the corona apocalypse takes the dig.

Indian fashion week 

India Fashion Week is a bi-annually organized fashion week which is promoted by the designated Fashion Event Council of India. This event was sponsored by Wills Lifestyle from 2006–2014 before Amazon sponsored it. Since then, it is also known as Amazon Fashion Week.  Indian fashion industry has been growing with international events such as the India Fashion Week and annual shows by fashion designers held across major cities of the country. It is now called as Lotus Make-Up India Fashion week. Facing a postponement, it will be held on October 10 this year.

New York bridal week 

New York Fashion Week, held in February and September of each year, is a semi-annual series of events when international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press, and the general public. It was also founded by Eleanor Lambert. It was inaugurated in 1943. It was held from February 4th to February 12th this year. The genre of this event is clothing and fashion exhibitions. It has consisted of numerous branded events, such as Olympus Fashion Week New York, that has made Fashion Week and many independent fashion productions around town. It was held virtually between September 11 and September 16 this year.

Some fashion shows of world-known designers that have been canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 are Chanel, Armani, Dior, Gucci, Hermes, Max Mara, Prada, Versace, Ralph Lauren, and the list goes longer.

All these events have become an active part of the yearly routine of the planners, organizers, designers, and the audience. Undoubtedly, everyone is sad about the cancelation or postponement of the event. Let us be positive and not lose hope. We hope that the countries that are testing and producing vaccines at a large scale get successful in their ventures and humankind can find out ways to come out of this virus web.
