Released on January 15, a miniseries by MCU, WandaVision, takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame. Based on the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision, Marvel Studios produced it. Moreover, Jac Schaeffer created it as a head writer and Matt Shakman directed it. This misery is the first series in phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, just five episodes have released yet, and it consists a total of nine, until March 5. So let us dig a little deeper and try to understand why these miniseries have such a mysterious uniqueness to them.
Who are Wanda and Vision?
The two key heroes of the Avengers, Wanda, and Vision, fight evil and protect innocents. Many of you might know Wanda from the X-Men. Then how did she appear in the MCU movies? Well, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is a mutant. The reason she appears in both the X-Men as well as Avengers is that Disney did not own the Fox until 2019. Therefore, she appeared in Avengers as now Disney owned X-Men as well as The Avengers. She was born with specific genes that gave her superpowers. Apart from having superhuman strength, speed and stamina, she possesses the ability to control things with her mind. With the help of telekinesis, telepathy, and mind control, she can protect herself and others from the bad guys.
Whereas, Tony Stark (Iron Man), created Vision, an Android. He possesses one of the six infinity stones on his head, Mind Stone. This allowed him to have the ability of precognition, he could tell the future with super-logic. Apart from all the superhero qualities that he possesses, he can hover in the air, shoot with the energy of his mind stone as well as pass through the walls, which appears to be quite unsettling rather than useful.
WandaVision Storyline
People who follow marvel, know that Vision died in The Avengers: Infinity War. The big purple villain, Thanos killed him for the mind stone that he possessed. However, the WandaVision aired on January 15, and only five episodes have been out. The show will run up to nine episodes, till March 5.
In the beginning, this miniseries might just look like any other sitcom that you can enjoy with the family. But, WandaVision is actually a mystery. The two superheroes live like a happily married couple dealing with mundane problems. From disastrous dinner parties to pregnancy plots, they deal with it all. However, this is where the actual plot twist comes in. Since WandaVision is not a prequel to the Avengers Infinity war, the question that bothers everyone is how come Vision is still alive? Well, it seems that Wanda has created this fantasy land where she and Vision can lead a normal life.
She had used her power to live in her dreamland with the love of her life. Moreover, Vision has no clue that he is dead. Each episode resembles the most famous American sitcom over the decades, like, I Love Lucy, Bewitched or I dream of a Jeanie. With each episode, both of them, Wanda and Vision begin to realize that they live in a façade created by Wanda and Vision had died long back.
Character sketch
Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch: The most powerful Avenger of all, Elizabeth Olsen plays the role of Wanda. Due to the mutation in her genes, she possesses the power of controlling the mind, telekinesis, and telepathy. Moreover, in this miniseries, she has created a dream life for herself and her lover Vision after his death.
Vision: The android created by the Iron Man(Tony Stark), Paul Bettany plays the role of Vision. Tony Stark created him using artificial intelligence, J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron as well as the mind stone. However, he died in the Avengers Infinity War, in WandaVision, he exists only for Wanda.
Agnes: The nosy neighbor of Wanda and Vision, Kathryn Hahn plays the role of Agnes. However, she is expected to be the next Marvel villain. She has been the one who helped Vision realize that he had died.
Monica Rambeau: The Captain of S.W.O.R.D., Teyonah Parris plays the role of Monica. She lives as a neighbor of Wanda and Vision as ‘Geraldine’.
Therefore, many people have different theories on how this miniseries, WandaVision might end. But with only five episodes out, nobody can really tell what mystery it holds for us. People have loved this miniseries as it was the first production of MCU in the Phase four series, that too after one and a half years. The audience has reacted very well to the storyline also. But, nothing can be assumed or rather predicted where this miniseries will take us. We all have nothing to do except wait till March 5!
