Famous for his bluntness, strict demeanor, and occasionally fiery temper, Gordon Ramsay rose to fame with British television miniseries Boiling Point in 1999. Ramsay was born in Scotland but grew up in England. Due to his legendary temper in the kitchen, he notoriously became famous as “The Bad Boy of British Cuisine”. He specializes in Italian, British and French cuisine. He opened his first restaurant in 1997, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in England. Moreover, in 2001, he set the record and won three Michelin stars for his restaurant and became the first Scot to achieve the feat. Gordon has received a total of sixteen Michelin Stars but currently holds seven of them.
By 2004, Ramsay became one of the best known and influential chefs in the UK. Jamie Oliver
Gaining popularity with his approachable cuisine, Jamie Oliver became famous after BBC aired his cookery show The Naked Chef. Jamie Trevor Oliver was born and brought up in the village of, Clavering in Essex. After his television show, his first cookbook gained him peak popularity, with it becoming number one in the UK. Moreover, his documentary, Jamie’s Kitchen, brought him an invitation from Prime Minister Tony Blair to visit 10 Downing Street.
His campaign, Feed Me Better, in 2005, to introduce schoolchildren to healthier foods, was backed by the government later. He specializes in Organic, British and Italian cuisines. He opened his first chain of restaurants, Jamie’s Italian, in Oxford in 2008. However, in May 2019, it went into administration.
Vikas Khanna
The Indian chef who won awards like, “Sexiest Man Alive”(2011), “New York’s Hottest Chef”(2011-2012), and more. Vikas Khanna was born in Amritsar, India. His grandmother’s influence brought him into this culinary field. Most importantly, he opened his first venture, Lawrence Gardens Banquets, at just the tender age of seventeen. He started developing recipes at an early age and would host weddings as well as family functions.
He masters in various Indian cuisine. Vikas Khanna opened his restaurant in Manhattan, “Junoon“, in 2009. For which he earned Michelin Stars for three consecutive years, 2012, 2013, and 2014. He had hosted various seasons of MasterChef India and appeared on various other television cookery shows like Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmare, etcetera. He has written over nineteen cookbooks. To his honor, he has also prepared a meal for the former president of the US, Barack Obama.
Marco Pierre White
The first and the youngest British chef to receive a Michelin Star, Marco Pierre White, earned his first-three stars at the age of thirty-three. White was born in England. He is said to be the first celebrity chef of all time. Marco has mentored notable chefs such as Mario Batali, Gordon Ramsay, Curtis Stone and Shannon Bennett. He specializes in Italian, British and French cuisine.
Marco rose to fame with Hell’s Kitchen in 2007, as the head chef. His first restaurant, Harvey’s in Wandsworth Common, in London, opened in 1987, earned him his first Michelin Star. He has hosted various seasons of MasterChef Australia and MasterChef New Zealand.
Akis Petretzikis
The celebrity chef who came into the limelight after winning the 2010 MasterChef Greece. Georgios Evlampios (Akis) Petretzikis grew up in Thessaloniki, Greece. He began helping in the family business as he turned sixteen. As he graduated, he had dual degrees at eighteen, as an accountant and the other as a chef. He later chose to pursue culinary art and went off to England in 2006 to learn international cooking styles. In 2010 he returned to Greece to take part in MasterChef season one, which he won.
He has mastered Greek cuisine, Mediterranean and International cuisine. He has appeared in many television shows and written about five cookbooks till now. Moreover, he also runs a company, Akis Petretzikis limited, and serves as the CEO there. The company publishes cooking magazines and books, produces cooking shows, runs restaurants and an e-shop with various gifts and kitchen products.
Vineet Bhatia
This food alchemist, Vineet Bhatia, made India proud as he became the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin Star. He masters in the modern Indian cooking style. Bhatia was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He began his career as a culinary artist and executive chef in the Oberoi Group, Mumbai. He opened his first restaurant “Zaika”, in the UK in 1999. However, he received his first Michelin star for this restaurant in 2001.
He expanded his empire with his second venture, “Rasoi by Vineet” in Chelsea, London (2004) and another in Geneva, Switzerland (2008). He Received the Michelin stars for both of these restaurants in 2006 and 2009, respectively. Additionally, it made him the second British chef to hold Michelin stars in more than one country. He has written two cookbooks and hosted MasterChef India, among featuring on other shows.
