Modeling. An art well known but less preferred. I am sure that you all must be well aware of this beautiful yet incredible form of art. I must introduce you to the fact that modeling does not mean just designed clothes and ramp walks. It does not mean just standardized fashion shows. It has many deeper aspects. One such aspect is nude modeling.
As the name suggests, it requires the artist to pose in a particular position naked for several hours so that they can be shot, painted, or portrayed.
It is not astonishing that we are well versed with this fact. It’s not just women that are participating. Men are also likely to be celebrated as artistic subjects.
It is believed that nude modeling is an art that is challenging and personally rewarding. Its basic requirements are professionalism, confidence, creativity, and consent. It is indeed challenging to work for a profession where it requires being willing to be physically and mentally vulnerable in a room full of strangers. One needs to be creative and confident to portray themselves in likable positions.
Challenges to modeling
People who practice this profession, either as a model or a capturer, often discuss that most models don’t do it for passion. They don’t do it because they feel intrigued to stand or pose naked in front of strangers. Or because they are excited that they will be drawn or clicked. They do it because they lack options. Choices. To choose what they want to pursue.
They are either forced or in desperate need. But that will be half true. Some models choose it as a profession because they feel fascinated by the idea. They encourage passion, consent, and professionalism. Somehow, we fail to understand that it is just another profession. Our inability to understand and accept this simple fact makes it harder for such people.
Models often face criticism and judgments from society because of their choices. Moreover, many times they are even judged by their dear ones. We don’t understand that their choice of profession is doing enough to feed them no matter their stomachs or their hearts. Some do it for money. The others do it for interest and passion.
Many people think that nude models are forced or are ill-treated. They assume that there must be an undying need for money that someone has to make such a choice. On the contrary, many models practice nude modeling to find an escape. They feel thrilled by the idea and fascinated by their job. They enjoy it and embrace themselves for it. Also, people entertain the fact that such practitioners do not deserve respect. Again, that is half true.
You are likely to encounter people who respect others’ choice and accept it. Moreover, adore them for being confident enough to make such bold choices.
What do different models have to say about nude modeling?
“I can’t think of any other profession in which a 40-something woman can take her clothes off and be celebrated and glorified as an artistic subject.” –Claudia Hajian
She is a 48-year-old model and expresses her thrill at the idea of nude modeling despite her age. She left her teaching profession and switched to modeling because she wanted an escape and freedom from the regular. Emma Shapiro is another model who believes that modeling has provided her with the connection that she needed with herself. She promotes the idea and is happy about her work.
Modeling is often disgraced. Many people do not consider it a respectable profession. It must sound annoying but it’s true. Even in such modern times, you’ll come across many people who don’t appreciate such choices? Moreover, criticize them.
Nude modeling must sound like a disgusting idea to them. But for those who enjoy it, it’s a form of art. Even for the models who get their daily wages because of their undressed bodies, it’s good enough to provide them with a square meal. No one gets to judge the choices made by any other individual, no matter whatever choice it is. You never know the story behind the person who’s posing confidently in front of you for your entertainment or interest.
