On January 26, 1837, Michigan became the 26th state of the USA. Also, this was the final extent. Michigan admitted itself in the Union. The state declared Detroit as its capital. 1905: World’s largest Diamond discovered.
In the year 1905, miners found the largest diamond. They named it the Cullinan Diamond. This diamond was excavated from South Africa. Specifically, in Pretoria. This diamond honored the Chairman of the mining company that found it. The diamond was 3,106 metric carats. In addition to that, it was humongous in size. The interesting fact about this diamond is that it was presented to finish rivalries. The government of Transvaal presented the diamond to King Edward VII to finish the rifts between them.
1924: Petrograd, city in Russia is renamed Leningrad.
On January 26, Petrograd became Leningrad. The government also changed the name in the future. Today, we call it Saint Petersburg. This is the second-largest city in Russia.
